5 Ways Your Business is Leaving Money on the Table
Working with businesses as they perfect their digital marketing strategies is at the heart of what I do at The Confidant Collective. The most common fear all business owners have (and most people for that matter) is the fear of wasting resources, specifically money, or investing what they do have available in the wrong things. This concern is an excellent motivator to look at everything you do for your business through a microscope and analyze if it is actually going to help you grow or if it is something that fits in the “nice to have” category. Keep reading for the five most common ways I see businesses leave money on the table.

1. No Website
I've witnessed firsthand how businesses without a website are losing out on both money and potential clients. Having an online presence is crucial for reaching a wider audience and staying competitive in the market. Without a website, potential customers or clients will be unable to find information about your business, leading to missed opportunities for sales. People often prefer to research and make purchases online, so not having a website means you’re essentially invisible to a significant portion of your target audience who could potentially find you organically by searching online. Without a website, it is extremely difficult to showcase your brand's credibility and professionalism, which can deter potential customers or clients from engaging with your business. Not having a website is a substantial barrier to growth and success.
2. No system for lead capture
While having a website is absolutely the first step, simply having a website is just that, the first step. Your website needs to be optimized to make the most of the traffic that comes to your site. The first tool that is essential to your website is integrating a system for capturing leads. This includes not just a contact form on your website, but an incentive for people to join your mailing list in exchange for an offer that is relevant to your business. As you grow your email list and active leads, you will be able to grow your business and sales with the help of email & sms marketing. Keep reading for how.
3. No Email & SMS Marketing Strategy
Aside from not having a website, this is one of the biggest ways I see businesses leave money on the table. Having an email & sms marketing strategy will make sure that the leads you capture are nurtured, resulting in a higher conversion rate. This includes both automated email sequences as well as newsletters & routine touch-points. 4. No High-Quality Brand Photography
It usually isn’t difficult to spot websites that rely solely on stock photography. While it can be fine to use high-quality stock images as a temporary placeholder while you work on getting some professional photos of you and your business, having high-res images for your website, social media, & other marketing efforts makes all the difference. It demonstrates to your audience your willingness to invest in your business and commitment to putting forth quality content for the success of your clients and customers.
5. An Unwillingness to Learn New Systems
Business owners who are open to growth and learning progress much farther and much faster than business owners who cling to what they know, no matter how cumbersome. So often I have clients come to me who have a very intricate system for doing a whole host of tasks, from following up with leads manually to placing orders. When you are in a period of investing in your business to take things to the next level, I encourage you to be open to new systems and tools that can actually save you time and money. Businesses that get stuck in their ways will stay exactly there, stuck. When I recommend a new platform to a client, I am doing so because I feel it will simplify their process, so while you might be learning a new platform or system, it is one that once learned, will be much easier than what was being implemented previously.
