This one is for all of the Realtors out there. If you are on the fence about investing in a website, I am here to tell you that the answer should be a resounding YES! Whether you are considering a website for your personal business separate from a team or brokerage, or a website for your brokerage, having a well-designed website infused with high-value SEO keywords is the most essential place to start when it comes to your marketing strategy. If you feel that your business has gone well up until this point without a website. Let me ask you this. Do you know how much money you are leaving on the table by not having a website? Do you know how many people you are missing out on reaching simply because you are hard to find online? There is no reason you shouldn't be ranking when people are searching for your services in your area, but without a website, you aren't even scratching the surface.

YOU Own Your Corner of the Internet

Relying solely on social media is a flawed strategy. What happens when Instagram goes down? Public social media platforms are an essential part of your marketing strategy, but they can't be the only piece of the puzzle. Yes, you own your account and login so to speak, but God forbid Instagram or Facebook should shut down, what happens to your leads then? When you have a website that is optimized to gather lead details and capture potential client details, you are well on your way to building an engaged email list to complement your social audiences. With your own website, you are in the driver's seat. If you are reliant on your team or brokerage to provide you with a single landing page with your bio and listings, you are missing out on some incredible opportunities. Those pages, provided by your team, are by no means bad. In fact, they will help your SEO too, but what you need for a truly meaningful marketing strategy is something that takes it a step further. If you don't own your website, you don't have the ability to change lead capture tactics, measure conversion rates, or easily access all of the data your own website can provide which can inform your marketing strategy.

As a Realtor, your website serves as an online portfolio, enhancing credibility and trust with potential clients. By showcasing listings, high-quality photos, and client testimonials, you can effectively demonstrate your expertise and qualifications. This highlights your skills and achievements, building confidence and making clients more likely to choose you as their real estate expert. Sometimes, a personal referral isn't enough. Say, for example, one of your clients mentions your name to a friend over drinks. But when the friend goes searching for you online, they can't find you. Or, potentially even worse, what they do find is lackluster with a headshot from 10+ years ago. Listen to this real quick. As a Realtor, YOU are your own personal brand. Hold yourself to a higher standard and a higher quality client will follow. A website will allow you to fine-tune and identify your own personal brand guidelines, within the realm of what is possible at your current brokerage. You can curate the look and feel of your logo, the fonts, the colors, and the photography used to tell your story and serve your clients.

It Allows You to Re-Market

Having a website allows you to grow an effective re-marketing strategy. By growing your email list and contacts, you are not reliant on your brokerage to put in place these systems for you. This sets you up to have a great handle on your contacts, should you ever move to a different team. I have also seen brokerages put in place systems for their team members that actually damage their domain authority by sending too many automated, spammy follow-ups to leads. Make sure this isn't happening to you! If your brokerage is using your email address to send any sort of email or SMS marketing, make sure you know exactly what is being sent. Most importantly, a website shows your clients you really care.
